Baldassarre Stea, MD, PhD

Department  Head

Dr. Stea is board-certified in radiation oncology and practices general radiation oncology with emphasis for breast cancer, pediatric malignancies and brain tumors.  He also has special interest in the application of stereotactic radiosurgery and radiotherapy for the treatment of benign and malignant intracranial diseases.

 

 

 

 

Deirdre Cohen, M.D.

Deirdre Cohen, MD,
Associate Professor

Dr. Cohen is board certified in radiation oncology and practices general radiation oncology.  Her main areas of interest are tumors of the breast, eye, head and neck and gastro-intestinal tract.  Her research interests include new treatment techniques for head neck cancers and in GI malignancies and improving quality of life for patients receiving radiation treatments.

 

 

 

 

Shona T. Dougherty, MB, ChB, PhD, FRCP(C),
Associate Professor, Residency Director, and
Medical Director

Dr. Dougherty is a board eligible radiation oncologist who practices general radiation oncology with special interest in the treatment of gynecological cancers and prostate cancer particularly with brachytherapy. She’s also interested in the delivery of total body irradiation as part of the treatment of patients with hematological malignancies who are undergoing bone marrow transplantation. She is also involved in both basic and clinical translational research and palliative care.

 

 

 

 

Nam P. Nguyen, M.D., Assistant Professor

Dr. Nguyen comes to us from the VA North Texas Health System in Dallas, Texas.  He is a graduate of the University of Liege in Liege, Belgium with residency in internal medicine and Radiation Oncology and fellowships in endocrinology and brachytherapy.

His research interests include, but are not limited to, interactions of cytokines and radiation, antiprogesterone agents (RU-486) and radiation, cytoprotector agents (Amifostine) and chemoradiation

Dr. Nguyen has published over 30 articles in scientific journals and his main focus is head, neck, and lung patients.
