T. Dougherty, MB, ChB, PhD, FRCP(C)
Associate Professor
Dr. Dougherty is a radiation
oncologist and research scientist with international experience in
cancer therapy. Her main area of interest is in prostate cancer
with particular expertise in prostate brachytherapy. She will be
in charge of the prostate seed implant program at UMC. She will
also be concentrating on the treatment of gynecological cancers as
well as overseeing translational research initiatives within the
Department.
Her original medical degree was
obtained from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and she
started her oncology career at Mount Vernon Hospital in England.
She spent 9 years in Vancouver, Canada studying for her Ph.D. and
undertaking her residency training at the British Columbia Cancer
Agency. She joined UCLA as an assistant professor 7 years ago and
ran the prostate brachytherapy program as well as the TBI service.
She has been involved in both basic and clinical research, and is
interested in teaching and patient communication.
